James Whillans born 1688 in Jedburgh Scotland married Jean Loukup during his early thirties on 07jun1720 in Jedburgh. They had five children: three of the four sons had extensive progeny, and the one daughter has not been researched yet. To date, some 4,320 persons have been identified by name as their descendants.
This research has been founded upon 'The Chronological Table of the Whillans Family of Jedwater, Parish of Southdean Roxburghshire Scotland', compiled some 200 years ago during August 1823 by Rev William Whillans b1781 of London Ontario. The Rev William's Table reads:
James Whillans, my grandfather, born parish of Jedburgh about 1688. Died Chesters Southdean, 1783. Married Jean Loukup. Five children.
1 John Whillans, born Blackchesters Jedburgh parish about 1718. Married Mary Swan of Castleton about 1765. Six children: James, Thomas, John, Jean, William, Robert. He died in 1813. Buried Southdean. His wife Mary Swan died 1806. 2 James Whillans, married Jean 0liver. Six children: James, John, Jean, Thomas, etc. 3 Jennet Whillans, married Crawford, five children. 4 Robert Whillans, married Jennet Scott. Seven children: James, Aaron, Robert, Ellen, Isabel, Jennet, Andrew. 5 Thomas Whillans died unmarried at Chesters.

My brother Thomas, born Castleton 1768. Married Agnes Liddel about 1794. Children: John, May. My brother John, born 1772, married Mary Jiddess about 1795. Children: John, David, William, Margaret, Agnes, James, Mary, Andrew, Isabel, Jean. My sister Jean, married Thomas Oliver. Children: Mary born 1806, William born 1815. I, William Whillans, was born at Chesters Southdean parish in 1779. Married Agnes White. Nine children: John b1814, Jean, William b1818, Mary, Betty, Adam, Robert b1828, Thomas b1830, Agnes b1833. My brother Robert Whillans, born Chesters, Southdean parish, 1781. Married Barbara Oliver in 1808. Children: John who married and had six children, Margaret, Thomas born 1814, Mary, George who married Margaret Clarke, Betty who married Chas Sharpe, Jane who married Alec Watters.
